Air pollution from emitted by anthropogenic or/and natural sources constitutes a significant risk factor for a number of severe health conditions such as lung cancer and strokes. According to the 2014 World Health Organization report, air pollution in 2012 caused the deaths of 7 million people worldwide. The starting point of air quality monitoring is to first study if an area has an air pollution problem. Monitoring helps in assessing the level of pollution in relation to the ambient air quality standards.
The InsightAir Europe drone adds a new dimension to the air quality analysis. The drone can be used to sample ambient air in heights from 5 m – 125 m above ground level or direct sampling from stack plumes. The drone provides continuous monitoring of multiple parameters and all historical data are saved. While in flight a number of built-in chemical sensors can provide remote monitoring of chemicals selected at the time of ordering. The drone is bringing real value to the AQ analysis, when combined with the powerful sensor networks of InsightAir.
The synergy between the drone and AQ sensor network gives real insights of the AQ allowing a very accurate 4D (time, length, width and height) modelling of the air quality. Petrochemical, chemical, pharmaceutical or food manufacturing companies are emitting various chemicals which are normally very difficult to sample using traditional methods. The InsightAir sampling drone opens a whole new dimension in the air sampling by allowing the operator have direct sampling from the plumes and other sources that are difficult and/or dangerous, ensuring no human exposure to physical or chemical dangers. Taking samples at various heights upwind and downwind of the plant allows for accurate measurement of all emissions generated by the plant.
